Progression

HAP are working with Apprenticeship Providers across the Humber sub-region to offer you the opportunity to take part in a range of activities that will help to raise your awareness of what higher level learning opportunities are available after you have finished your apprenticeship.

Through the work of the project we are hoping that we can:
• Raise your awareness of what higher learning can do for you.
• Raise your expectations of what you can achieve.
• Increase your motivation and self confidence to enable you to progress in your chosen direction.

There are often certain things that prevent us from thinking we can study at a higher level; there may be financial worries, lack of confidence, lack of self motivation, family pressure and lack of knowledge about what courses are right for us. We hope that we will help to inspire learners to achieve so that they can progress and achieve their full potential! We hope to show you that by choosing a work based or work related route you CAN progress to higher learning or higher education. Our activities will support you to aim higher to ultimately achieve your goals!

Higher Level Learning – What is It? – Support for Advanced Apprentices
We have asked Advanced Apprentices to complete a Progression Questionnaire and from this, we’ve combined the first four most popular activities on the menu into one short session called “Higher Level Learning – What is it?” Please see about information leaflets.

In the session, we will cover information on the types of higher level learning on offer in the Humber sub-region and the types of places you can study for a higher level course. We’ll look at what progression pathways are available for you and how to research them. Information will be provided on the Financial Support available for Higher Level Learning and Careers Planning Advice and Guidance will be provided by Connexions and/or nextstep Advisors. Refreshments will also be provided.

If you would like to attend a sessions, please contact CfL on 01482 638508 or fill out the booking form to express an interest. What have you got to lose?

Other Activities
Other support is available such as Mentoring, Campus visits or Subject Enrichment sessions and if you are interested in any of these, please let your provider know or contact the project staff (details below). We have also provided below a list of open events/days at Colleges and Universities in our sub-region.

Did you know?
A higher level qualification can open up career opportunities with higher earnings potential; you can expect to earn at least £320,000 more over a lifetime and you will be less likely to be unemployed with a higher qualification. You could progress onto an NVQ Level 4 or professional qualification with your provider, a part time foundation degree or a part time degree at your local university or college. It’s your choice! With our support you can make the choices that are right for you.
